The Historical Museum of Crete, often referred to as the Historical Museum of Heraklion, is located in Heraklion, Crete. It showcases the island’s history from early Christian times through the modern era, including Byzantine, Venetian, and Ottoman periods. The museum features artifacts, manuscripts, paintings (including works by El Greco), and exhibits on Cretan culture and folklore.

Opening hours (Summer 2025):
Monday to Sunday: 09:00 – 17:00
Entrance fee: 8 Euros

These hours are valid from April to October. The museum is closed on public holidays. For winter hours and more details, you can check the official site.

The museum is a must-visit for anyone interested in the rich history and culture of Crete and Heraklion specifically.
