In a grim turn of events, two bodies have been found washed ashore near Paleochora within just a few hours of each other, raising concern among local authorities and residents. The latest discovery occurred on the rocky beach of Plakaki, where a fisherman spotted the second body. This follows the earlier finding of a decomposed body on the nearby beach of Keratides.

Emergency services, including the local Coast Guard, the Fire Department, police, and the Civil Protection team of the Kantanos-Selino Municipality, responded promptly to the scene. The area remains under investigation as officials work to identify the deceased and determine the circumstances surrounding these tragic incidents.

This marks the fifth body recovered in the wider maritime area between Gavdos and Crete over the past week, prompting heightened vigilance and ongoing search efforts in the region.

Authorities have not yet released information regarding the identities of the victims or the cause of death. The community is urged to stay alert and report any suspicious findings to local officials.

We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
