Local police forces responded promptly, arriving at the scene to prevent further escalation. Despite the tension, the incident concluded without any reported injuries, and the city center soon returned to its usual calm.

Notably, families and elderly tourists were present during the disturbance, adding to the urgency of the police response. Following the event, a solidarity gathering was held in the same square to support those who were detained.

Heraklion’s police have since increased their presence in key areas to ensure public safety and prevent any additional unrest.

This incident highlights the delicate nature of political tensions spilling into public spaces, even in popular tourist destinations. Visitors and locals alike are reminded to remain respectful and mindful of diverse perspectives to maintain peace and harmony.
