Relief is on the way for millions of drivers in Greece. The official platform for the Fuel Pass 2026 is now live, allowing eligible vehicle owners to apply for financial aid to offset rising fuel costs.
If you act quickly, you might even see the funds in your account before the Easter holidays. Here is everything you need to know about eligibility, payment amounts, and how to apply.
Who is Eligible for the Fuel Pass?
The subsidy is available to natural persons, including freelancers, who are tax residents of Greece. The primary requirement is based on your declared family income for the 2024 tax year.
Income Limits:
* Single Individuals: Up to €25,000.
* Married or Cohabiting Couples: Up to €35,000 (plus €5,000 for each dependent child).
* Single-Parent Families: Up to €39,000 (plus €5,000 for each dependent child).
How Much Will You Receive?
The amount of aid depends on three factors: the type of vehicle you own, where you live, and your chosen method of payment. Pro tip: Choosing the digital card over a direct bank deposit nets you an extra €10.
For Car Owners:
* Mainland Greece: €50 via digital card / €40 via bank deposit.
* Island & Border Regions: €60 via digital card / €50 via bank deposit.
For Motorcycle Owners:
* Mainland Greece: €30 via digital card / €25 via bank deposit.
* Island & Border Regions: €35 via digital card / €30 via bank deposit.
Step-by-Step: How to Apply
The process is handled through the official portal at vouchers.gov.gr. For those who are not tech-savvy, applications can also be processed through your local KEP (Citizens’ Service Center).
1. Login with Taxisnet: Use your personal credentials to enter the platform.
2. Confirm Your Details: Verify your email, mobile number, and IBAN. Accuracy is key to avoiding payment delays.
3. Declare Your Vehicle: Select the car or motorcycle registered to your AFM. The vehicle must be in circulation, insured, and have no outstanding road tax (teloi kykloforias).
4. Choose Your Payment: Decide between the digital fuel card (higher amount) or a bank transfer.
Important Deadlines and Timing
Timing is everything. According to the latest updates, funds are typically credited within two business days of approval. This means that those who submit their applications immediately may receive the subsidy before the bank holidays for Easter.
Note: If you choose the digital card, it will remain active and available for use until July 31, 2026.
Why the Fuel Pass Matters
As energy market turbulence continues to impact pump prices, this emergency legislation aims to support low and middle-income households. By providing tax-free, non-transferable grants, the government is looking to ease the financial burden on nearly 3.1 million vehicle owners across the country.
