If you have been dreaming of a five-star escape to the Greek Isles, now might be the most strategic time to book. As the geopolitical landscape shifts due to the ongoing conflict between the USA-Israel and Iran in the Middle East, luxury hotels in Greece’s most iconic destinations are adjusting their prices to secure bookings.

Recent data shows that high-end accommodations in Santorini and Rhodes are offering significant discounts for the 2026 summer season as travelers become more cautious.

The Numbers: Deep Discounts in Top Destinations

While overall demand for Greece remains high—with nearly 95% of units already booked for peak dates—the remaining inventory is seeing a price war. Hotels are eager to “lock in” reservations in an environment of increased uncertainty.

* Rhodes: A sample of five-star hotels for June 9–14 revealed that out of 45 available properties, 34 (76%) are offering clear discounts.
* Santorini: For the period of July 7–10, out of 84 available five-star accommodations, 61 (73%) have slashed their prices to attract hesitant tourists.

Tour Operators Pivot to “Flexibility”

It isn’t just the hotels lowering their rates; major international tour operators are changing their tactics to combat “booking freezes.” Instead of just horizontal price cuts, they are focusing on extreme flexibility to give travelers peace of mind.

* Alltours: Offering a free “Flex-Tarif” for bookings made by April 15, allowing travelers to cancel or change their plans up to 15 days before departure without any justification.
* TUI: Europe’s largest tourism group has introduced a “Half Price, Full Flexibility” campaign, offering 50% off their Flex-Tarif, allowing cancellations up to 15 or 29 days before the trip.

A Slowdown in Air Travel

The impact of the Middle East crisis is also being felt at Greece’s major gateways. After a record-breaking start to 2026, air traffic is showing signs of a “cool down.”

Aegean Airlines Chairman Eftychios Vassilakis recently noted a reduction in flow of approximately 8% to 10% compared to previous weeks. Similarly, Athens International Airport (AIA), which saw double-digit growth in January and February, is expecting a much more modest single-digit increase for March.

Is it Safe to Book?

While the geopolitical situation remains fluid, the Greek tourism market is proving resilient. For travelers, the current climate offers a rare “buyer’s market” for luxury stays. By taking advantage of the Flex Fares offered by TUI and Alltours, you can secure a high-end vacation at a lower price point with the safety net of a free cancellation policy.

If you’ve had your eye on a caldera-view suite in Santorini or a beachfront resort in Rhodes, the next few weeks may offer the best value-for-money opportunities we’ve seen in years.
